What this gets you
- You protect your reputation and your sending accounts from duplicate messages.
- The job’s pipeline tracks it for you, so you don’t need to remember who was contacted.
- Adding someone who is already in the sequence is skipped automatically.
Steps
- Link your sequence to a job, from the sequence’s Linked job card.
- In Contacts, filter the job’s pipeline to the stages before successful outreach, starting with Assigned. Everyone there still has to be contacted. Adding someone who is already in the sequence is skipped.
- Or switch the pipeline filter to Not in this pipeline. Anyone added to a sequence is placed in the linked job’s pipeline, so a contact outside it hasn’t been contacted for that job.
- To also skip people messaged about a different job, use the Last message filter: set a date range, choose Any message, and set the mode to Exclude.
- To keep the pipeline sorted without effort, move candidates automatically, for example on First successful outreach, so anyone already contacted leaves Assigned by itself.
Tips
- New contacts you import into a job go to its Assigned stage. A contact already further along stays where they are and is never moved backward.
Ideas to get more from it
- Treat the Assigned stage as your daily to-do list of people still to be contacted.
- Use the Last message filter across jobs, so someone messaged about another role isn’t contacted again too soon.
- Check Not in this pipeline before importing a large list into a job.
