To import contacts from a CSV file, open More > Sourcing > .CSV import, drop your file, map each column to a Jobin field, choose your tags and conflict settings, and start the import.

What this gets you

  • Years of spreadsheet data become searchable CRM records in one import.
  • Your own information, such as custom fields and notes, comes with them mapped to the right fields.
  • Duplicates are merged automatically, and auto-update can refresh each contact with their latest data.
  • You can tag the whole batch, so it’s easy to find and work afterwards.

Steps

  1. Open More > Sourcing > .CSV import, or use the Import contacts menu on the Contacts page.
  2. Drop your CSV file and choose the import destination, such as contacts.
  3. Map each column to a Jobin field. Choose Don’t import for columns you want to skip. You can add a custom field, or give every imported row the same value.
  4. Map the profile link column with the Smart Link Parser, which accepts a social profile or any website link.
  5. Apply tags to the imported contacts.
  6. Choose what happens when a value conflicts with existing data: overwrite it if the CSV is newer, ask for confirmation first, or keep the original. You can also stop name fields from being overwritten.
  7. Check the Import overview, then start the import.
  8. When Jobin asks, choose Yes to auto-update the contacts with their latest data, or Skip auto-update.

Tips

  • Pro tip: map only what is yours, such as your custom fields, contact information, and the profile link. Skip career details like company and location, which go out of date, and let auto-update fetch the latest data.
  • Jobin checks the imported contacts for duplicates and merges them automatically.
  • Auto-update is an optional add-on. If your plan doesn’t include it, Jobin shows an upgrade prompt and still imports your data.

Ideas to get more from it

  • Import event leads or referrals with a tag, then run a saved search or a sequence on that tag.
  • Give every row the same custom-field value, such as the source of the list, while you map the columns.
  • Import only your own data and the profile link, and let auto-update fetch the career details. It’s faster and avoids stale information.
