What this gets you
- The next step happens the moment a candidate reaches the stage, with no one remembering to do it.
- Every candidate gets the same experience, whoever on the team moved them.
- Waits, conditions, and tasks in the sequence let you mix automation with human steps.
Before you start
- A sequence that is ready to use. Build it first in Sequences.
Steps
- Open the job’s pipeline board, then open the stage’s automations: select the stage name, or use the column’s Stage actions menu > Stage automations.
- In the Trigger action card (What happens when contacts get here), choose Add sequence.
- In the Add to sequence list, pick the sequence. It is saved right away, and the card reads Runs this sequence for everyone who reaches [stage], either manually or automatically.
- To open the sequence and change it, use Edit beside it. To swap it, pick another sequence. To remove it, use Clear selected sequence.
- Optionally set how candidates arrive in the Assign stage card above, so the whole path runs by itself: move candidates automatically.
Tips
- A stage launches one sequence, because a contact runs one sequence at a time. Put the waits, messages, conditions, and tasks inside that sequence.
- You can also add a sequence to the managed stages Assigned, Rejected, and Accepted, for example a thank-you message when a candidate is rejected.
- Stage automations work however the candidate reaches the stage: by a rule, by dragging the card, or by bulk move.
Ideas to get more from it
- Start an interview scheduling sequence on your Interview stage.
- Send a polite thank-you sequence when candidates reach Rejected.
- Start an onboarding checklist sequence with tasks on Accepted.
