To edit a sequence that already has contacts, change existing steps (message content or conditions) or add new steps at the very bottom. You can’t delete steps, and changes only reach contacts who haven’t been queued yet.

What this gets you

  • You can improve a campaign while it runs, without restarting it.
  • You know in advance what you can and can’t change, so there are no surprises.
  • Changes affect only contacts who haven’t been queued yet.

Steps

  1. Open the sequence in the editor.
  2. Edit any existing step: change a message’s content, a condition, or other settings.
  3. To add a step, add it at the very bottom of the flow. You can’t add steps elsewhere.
  4. Save. The change applies only to contacts who haven’t already been queued in the Operations monitor.
  5. To change messages that are already queued, edit those pending operations in the advanced Operations monitor.

Tips

  • You can’t delete steps once contacts are in the sequence. To restructure, duplicate the sequence, make the changes in the copy, and archive the original so it stops accepting new contacts while existing ones finish.

Ideas to get more from it

  • Fix a message after seeing early results, and it applies to everyone not yet queued.
  • Add a new follow-up step at the end of the flow.
  • For a bigger change, duplicate the sequence and archive the old one.
