What this gets you
- Replies are sorted for you, so you don’t triage them by hand.
- The right next step happens automatically: a tag, a pipeline stage, or another sequence.
- Your analytics count positive and negative replies accurately.
Steps
- Open Reply Identification from the sequence editor.
- Check the starting reply types: Interested, Not interested, Maybe - Later, and the locked Inconclusive and Out of office rules.
- Add your own types. Give each a short label of up to 35 characters that describes the kind of reply. The AI matches the intent, so don’t list sample replies.
- For each type, choose what happens: Tag the contact, move them to a Pipeline stage, add them to another Sequence, or do Nothing and just categorize the reply.
- Set the Reply reporting category to Positive, Negative, or Unclassified, so your analytics count it correctly.
- Decide the two system rules: turn on Continue the sequence instead of stopping it for unclear replies, and Reschedule the sequence when this triggers for out-of-office replies (on by default).
- Save.
Tips
- A categorized reply stops the sequence for that contact. While a system rule is set to continue or reschedule, it can’t start another sequence.
Ideas to get more from it
- Move Interested replies to an interested stage and add a follow-up task.
- Add your own reply type for something you see often, such as a referral.
- Let out-of-office replies reschedule the sequence instead of ending it.
