# How to tag multiple contacts at once

> Label a whole group of contacts in one action, creating new tags on the spot, so batches are easy to find again.

To tag multiple contacts at once, select them in **Contacts**, use the tag button in the action bar, choose or create the tags, and apply.

## What this gets you

* You label a whole group in one action instead of tagging people one at a time.
* You can create new tags on the spot.
* Tagged batches are easy to find and work later.

## Steps

1. Open **Contacts** and select the contacts, or select sourced profiles in AI Search.
2. Use the tag button in the action bar.
3. Search the available tags and select as many as you need. You can also create new tags that don't exist yet.
4. Review the changes, then apply them.

## Tips

* Tags are rigid. For talent pools that should stay current, use a saved search instead. See [How to save a search and build a talent pool](/how-to/save-a-search-and-build-a-talent-pool.md).
