# How to pause or resume a sequence

> Stop every running and scheduled step of a sequence at once, then pick up where you left off.

To pause a sequence, open **Sequences** and choose **Pause sequence** on the sequence, or **Pause** in the sequence editor. To resume it,
choose **Resume sequence** in the same place.

## What this gets you

* Every running and scheduled step of the sequence stops at once, for example while you fix a message or a role goes on hold.
* Contacts keep their place, so resuming continues from where each of them was.

## Steps

1. Open **Sequences** in the sidebar.
2. Find the sequence and choose **Pause sequence** in the list, or **Pause** on its card. You can also pause it from the sequence editor.

4. Choose **Resume sequence** to start it again.

## Ideas to get more from it

* If you add contacts to a paused sequence, Jobin tells you it is paused and lets you resume it on the spot.
* To stop one contact rather than the whole sequence, exit them from the sequence on their **Outreach Sequences** tab.
