# How to handle replies automatically in a sequence

> Stop sorting replies by hand: categorize each reply and have Jobin tag the contact, move a stage, or start another sequence, with accurate analytics.

To handle replies automatically, open **Reply Identification** in the sequence editor, define your reply types, and choose what Jobin does when a reply matches each one.

## What this gets you

* Replies are sorted for you, so you don't triage them by hand.
* The right next step happens automatically: a tag, a pipeline stage, or another sequence.
* Your analytics count positive and negative replies accurately.

## Steps

1. Open **Reply Identification** from the sequence editor.
2. Check the starting reply types: **Interested**, **Not interested**, **Maybe - Later**, and the locked **Inconclusive** and **Out of office** rules.
3. Add your own types. Give each a short label of up to 35 characters that describes the kind of reply. The AI matches the intent, so don't list sample replies.
4. For each type, choose what happens: **Tag** the contact, move them to a **Pipeline** stage, add them to another **Sequence**, or do **Nothing** and just categorize the reply.
5. Set the **Reply reporting category** to **Positive**, **Negative**, or **Unclassified**, so your analytics count it correctly.
6. Decide the two system rules: turn on **Continue the sequence instead of stopping it** for unclear replies, and **Reschedule the sequence when this triggers** for out-of-office replies (on by default).
7. Save.

## Tips

* A categorized reply stops the sequence for that contact. While a system rule is set to continue or reschedule, it can't start another sequence.

## Ideas to get more from it

* Move **Interested** replies to an interested stage and add a follow-up task.
* Add your own reply type for something you see often, such as a referral.
* Let out-of-office replies reschedule the sequence instead of ending it.
