# How to build a custom recruiting report

> Answer your own recruiting and revenue questions: build a report from Jobin's metrics, break it down, and save it for you or your team.

To build a custom recruiting report, open **Reports**, choose **Report builder**, pick your metrics and a breakdown, then save the report.

## What this gets you

* A report that answers your exact question, such as placements by recruiter this quarter or submissions by source for one client.
* The same trusted metrics as the standard reports, so numbers match everywhere.
* A saved report you and your team can reopen in one click.

## Steps

1. Open **Reports** from the sidebar and choose **Report builder**.
2. Choose a common report to start from, or start from scratch.
3. Pick the metrics you want and the date meaning, such as events in the period or records created in the period.
4. Choose a breakdown, such as recruiter, job, client, or source.
5. Check **Your report preview**.
6. Save the report for **Only me** or for **My workgroup**.

## Tips

* Every internal team member can create reports and use dashboard templates. Choose **Create dashboard** for a ready-made set of reports. Owners and admins can optionally include starter goals; other members create the reports without goals.
* Need a ratio the standard metrics don't offer? Owners and admins can add a **calculated metric** that combines two metrics.
* Open the report again from **Saved reports**.
* A metric that Jobin can't measure yet shows as unavailable, not as zero.

## Ideas to get more from it

* Set a goal on the metric your team cares about most, and follow the leaderboard.
* Build one report per client and review it before each client update call.
* Compare sources each month to decide where to spend sourcing time.
