# How to assign a task to many contacts at once

> Create one personalized task per contact, grouped in a temporary call list you can work through and forget.

To assign a task to many contacts, select them in a contacts list, open the menu next to **Assign Tag**, and choose **Assign task queue /
temporary list**. Jobin creates one task per contact.

## What this gets you

* A call list or follow-up list for a whole segment, in one step.
* Each task is personalized, for example with the contact's first name.
* A temporary queue that disappears once every task in it is done.

## Steps

1. Open **Candidates**, **Client Contacts**, or **All contacts**, and select the contacts. You can select up to 1,000 at a time.
2. Open the menu next to **Assign Tag** and choose **Assign task queue / temporary list**.
3. Enter the task title and description. Use smart fields such as `{{firstName}}` to personalize each task.
4. Choose the assignee, and a new temporary queue or an existing queue.
5. Submit. Task creation runs in the background; follow its progress in **Operations**.
6. Open **Tasks**, pick the queue, and choose **Start working** to go through the contacts one by one.

## Ideas to get more from it

* Leave the queue as a new temporary list: it is named after the time you created it, and it is deleted automatically once no task in it
  is pending.
* If your connection drops while submitting, reopen the dialog and choose **Confirm request** instead of starting a second batch.
