# How to add application questions to a job

> Collect structured answers from applicants, like notice period or visa status, that become filterable data in your CRM.

To add application questions to a job, open the job builder's **Questions** step, add each question, and optionally link it to a custom field so answers are saved to the applicant's contact.

## What this gets you

* You collect the details you need from applicants up front, such as notice period or visa status.
* Linked to custom fields, answers become structured data you can filter and use in outreach.

## Steps

1. Open the job builder and go to **Questions**.
2. Add a question and choose its type: free text, number, date, list, or range.
3. Customize the question and its help text, and mark it as required if you need to.
4. To save answers as structured data, link the question to an existing custom field, or create a new one while you build the form.
5. Preview how the question looks to applicants, then publish.

## Tips

* Answers saved to a custom field can be used in contact filters and personalized outreach.

## Ideas to get more from it

* Mark must-know questions as required.
* Link each question to a custom field, then filter Contacts by the answers.
